I found this article and videos interesting and helpful (link below).
I also think that the book they mention The Complete Idiot's Guide to Personal Finance in Your 20's and 30's by Sarah Young Fisher sounds like a great book to give a college graduate or someone in that age group (like a niece of nephew, maybe even a family freeloader/co-dependent) just starting out.

MSN has a series on teaching kids about money responsibility.
I think financial education should be taught to all high school students and be a requirement for graduation. I was surprised to read that only five states require this so it is no wonder people have basic money issues.
Here is the link and there are more articles there.

I mentioned this site in my other blog last year when I heard about it.
Oprah mentioned it on her show today and said her staff is addicted to this site as well as many other people (like me!).
Kiva.org helps third world entreprenuers get small loans to start their businesses by your generosity and willingness to help others.
You select who you would like to help by reading profiles (location, business, loan amount, repayment terms, loan use) and some other information
You donate as little money or as much money as you wish to one or a few people you would like to help.
The loans with interest will be paid back in time (depends on who needs what and for how long, so it varies from person to person).
When the loan/s are paid back, you can recycle your money and help someone else.
We do this with our yard sale profits and throw in some other money as well. It is nice to know you can make a difference in someone's life.
Why not try it yourself?

Please note that due to the mention on Oprah's show, the site may be down due to overwhelming hits.
